Ringway is a civil parish which sits on the very Southern border of Manchester. Ringway has a population of around 103 people, and most crucially is home to Manchester Airport. Due to the main airport for Manchester being located inside Ringway, the local roads and nearby access points to the parish are very good to allow for easy transfer.

Average local house prices in Ringway at the time of writing were £187,202, up 4% on the previous year. The majority of sales in Ringway during the last year were terraced properties, selling for an average price of £168,530. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £198,036, with flats selling for £131,410.

Ringway Chapel plays a big part in the history of Ringway, as in the early days of the parish it was a part of Bowdon parish rather than its own location. Ringway parish gained its independence from Bowdon in 1863. The chapel was repurposed in 1997 to become a design studio, and in 2011 began to be used for religious purpose again by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In 1974 Ringway was brought into Manchester’s council in order to ensure that the entire site of the airport was a part of the city council. The airport had been built in the 1930’s and had formerly crossed the border between Manchester and Cheshire.

In the early days of the airport, it was referred to as ‘Ringway Airport ‘ – a name by which it is still known by locals today. The site of the airport is on the former RAF Ringway base.

The name Ringway comes from Old English and translates to mean “circular or enclosing hedged enclosure”.
