Salford Quays is an area in the borough of Salford, Greater Manchester. Today, Salford Quays is largely characterised by the huge urban regeneration project which took place on its site following the closure of the docks in 1982 – sparking the creation of an internal waterway network which is surrounded by roads and bridges and a plethora of commerical and local businesses. These include watersport facilities, a hotel, cinemas, housing and office blocks. It is also home to the Lowry project which is a landmark arts venue.

Average local house prices in Sale at the time of writing were £196,294, up 9% on the previous year. The majority of sales in Salford Quays during the last year were flats, selling for an average price of £194,909. Terraced properties sold for an average of £281,625, with semi-detached properties selling for around £156,375.

Originally built by the Manchester Ship Canal Company, Salford Docks was the larger of two that made up Manchester Docks. These docks closed in 1982, resulting in the derelict ground leaving space for the renovation project which opened the docks up as a large commercial and residential space.

Salford Quays is part of a joint tourism initiative between Salford and Trafford councils, supported by attractions and private partners including the Lowry, the Imperial War Museum North, Manchester United F.C., Lancashire County Cricket Club, the Quayside Mall and the Golden Tulip and Copthorne Hotels.

Salford Quays connects directly with nearby Manchester city centre via the Manchester Metrolink.

Salford Quays has also been used as the location for various sporting events.
