South Manchester is the area which refers to and covers the Southern towns and villages of Manchester, running as far South as the M60 motorway.

The main neighbourhoods and towns which are encompassed within the South Manchester umbrella include:
Didsbury (one of the most affluent residential areas of Manchester), Hulme (Manchester’s counterculture hub), Moss Side, Whalley Range (another deirable affluent suburb), Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Withington, and Rusholme.

South Manchester benefits from a series of public transport provisions and routes, including the local Manchester Airport which lies on the Southern border of Manchester. The train line from the city centre to the airport passes through south Manchester, and the Tramline Metrolink also runs through most of South Manchester.

With so many local communities coming together to form South Manchester, the area is well represented by leisure facilities and commerical spaces, including shopping precincts and industrial office space.
